One Year In as a Marketer for TechForce Cyber

I have completed my first year at TechForce Cyber which also marks my first year in my professional career! Embarking on the journey of becoming one of the pioneering Digital Marketing graduates in Scotland has been an exhilarating experience.

Last summer I graduated from Robert Gordon University, concluding an extraordinary educational journey. What sets my experience apart is the unconventional 2-and-2-year path I chose—two years at North East Scotland College (NESCOL) and two years in university. This unique route equipped me with a diverse skill set and a wealth of experiences, laying the foundation for a promising future in the digital marketing sector.

My journey was not without its challenges. Commencing my studies amidst the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic added an extra layer of complexity. Whilst dealing with a personal struggle of caring for a high-risk parent battling terminal cancer who passed away during that time, whilst also on furlough from a part-time retail job, the academic journey became a formidable climb. Despite these challenges, I emerged resilient and more determined than ever.

Receiving a Digital Marketing degree and being among the first in Scotland to achieve this distinction has opened a realm of opportunities. The dynamic nature of digital marketing, coupled with the ever-evolving industry landscape, positions me for continuous professional growth. In an interconnected world, digital marketing has become indispensable across professions, making this degree not only a differentiator but a gateway to a thriving career.

My journey at TechForce Cyber began in April 2023 as a part-time Digital Marketing Assistant. This role became a testing ground for applying the knowledge acquired during my academic years. Crafting compelling content, executing marketing campaigns, and analysing digital tools and data became vital parts of my daily routine. This experience not only strengthened my marketing skills but also introduced me to the fascinating realm of marketing in the cybersecurity sector.

An unexpected but thrilling aspect of my journey was the immersion into the world of cybersecurity. Despite limited prior knowledge, working at TechForce Cyber provided me with a firsthand education. Engaging in exhibitions, organising events, interacting with clients, and delving into the services offered by TechForce Cyber offered a better understanding of the intricacies of the cybersecurity industry.

In October, after successfully completing my probationary period, I achieved a significant milestone—a promotion to my first full-time role as a Marketer. This accomplishment validated the dedication and hard work invested in my education and career.

As her mentor, Jai Aenugu, the CEO, and Founder of TechForce Cyber: "Libby's dedication and rapid adaptation to the dynamic world of cybersecurity have been nothing short of impressive. Her journey from a part-time Digital Marketing Assistant to a full-time Marketing and Business Administrator is a testament to her commitment and potential. We are excited to see her continue to excel and contribute to the success of TechForce Cyber."

My professional journey, which began with a simple job listing, has transformed into a path of personal and professional growth. It has instilled in me a passion for continual learning, adaptation, and excellence, not only for personal fulfilment but also for contributing to the success of TechForce Cyber. In the dynamic field of cybersecurity, I have come to realise that as a Marketer, learning is a lifelong journey, and opportunities abound for those who approach them with enthusiasm and determination.

With more adventures and exciting projects on the horizon, I am eager to see what the coming year holds and beyond. Just watch this space...
